On the Triggering of Extreme Starburst Events in Low-metallicity Galaxies: A Deep Search for Companions of Green Peas

Green pea galaxies are starbursting, low-mass that good analogues to star-forming in the early universe. We perform a survey of 23 Peas using MUSE Integral Field Unit spectrograph on VLT search for companion galaxies. The reaches an average point-source depth $\sim 10^{-18}$ erg cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$ emission lines. field view allows us probe 1$\times$1 arcmin$^2$ around these and their surroundings faint companions could have interacted with them induced starburst episodes. variety methods including template matching absorption line spectra. When restricting same physical area (R = 78 kpc) all galaxies, we find fraction green is $0.11_{-0.05}^{+0.07}$. define control sample stellar masses redshifts as peas, but consistent star-formation main sequence. likely sample; which objects $0.08_{-0.03}^{+0.05}$.
